The leak path

From your call to a dry roof, in five steps

This is what happens when you call, in the order it happens.

  1. 01
    Any hour

Step 1: You call the leak line

    (337) 555-0100, any hour. In office hours Gwendolyn picks up. Nights and weekends the on-call lead does. If we are on another roof you get a call back, not a recording.

  2. 02
    From the ground

Step 2: You text a photo

From inside, or from the yard. A photo of the stain, the ceiling or the roof edge is enough to plan the crew. Never climb up to take one.

  3. 03
    Same day, if it's safe

Step 3: A crew lead tells you when

The tarp goes on the same day when the roof is safe to climb. Lightning, high wind and standing water keep us on the ground, and we say so on the phone.

  4. 04
    Dry tonight

Step 4: The tarp goes on

Heavy sheeting run past the ridge and fastened under wood battens, not a loose sheet weighted with bricks. Photos before and after, texted to you.

  5. 05
    Written, not guessed

Step 5: You get a written price for the real fix

Once the roof is dry we measure, photograph what we found and write down the repair or the re-roof with its price. The tarp is its own line.

About the tarp

A tarp is a cover, not a repair

A tarp keeps rain out until the roof is dry enough to fix. It holds for days or weeks, not seasons. We put it on, write down what we saw under it, and the repair or re-roof gets its own written price.

How we put one on

  • Run up past the ridge, so water sheds instead of pooling

  • Wrapped over wood strips and nailed through the strips, so wind can't lift an edge

  • Photos before and after, texted to you

FORTIFIED Roof

FORTIFIED, and the state grant, in plain words

FORTIFIED is a roof standard from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety. It isn't ours: a third-party evaluator checks the work and issues the certificate.

  • What changes on the roof

A sealed deck, ring-shank nails and tighter edge details, so a roof that loses shingles is still sealed underneath.

  • What the state grant is

Louisiana's Fortify Homes program helps eligible homeowners pay for a FORTIFIED roof. You apply and the state decides who qualifies, how much and when.

  • What it does to your insurance bill

Some insurers discount a FORTIFIED roof. Each company decides, so ask yours first.

“I asked about a FORTIFIED roof and got the price on paper with the evaluator's part on its own line. Rufus told me the state grant was my application, not his.”

Cornell J.Re-roof, Moss Bluff

Where we work

Calcasieu Parish and the parishes around it

The shop is on Kirkman Street in Lake Charles, and the tarp crew starts from there. That is why the line stops where it does.

Questions

Before you call

My roof is leaking right now. What do I do?

Call the leak line at (337) 555-0100, any hour. While you wait, move what you can out of the water's way, set a bucket, and text us a photo from inside or from the ground. Stay off the roof. If a light fixture is wet, turn off that circuit at the panel.

Does a tarp cost more at night?

Yes. Nights, weekends and holidays add a trip charge, and we tell you what it is on the phone before the truck leaves. The tarp itself is priced by roof size and written on its own line, never folded into the repair.

What is a FORTIFIED roof?

FORTIFIED Roof is a standard from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) for high wind and wind-driven rain: a sealed roof deck, ring-shank nails and tighter edge details. A third-party evaluator checks the work and issues the certificate. We build to it; we don't certify ourselves.

Is there a state grant for a FORTIFIED roof?

Louisiana runs the Fortify Homes program through the Louisiana Department of Insurance. You apply, and the state decides who qualifies, how much and when. We can give you a written price and tell you what the evaluator needs. We can't apply for you or promise a grant.

Will a FORTIFIED roof lower my insurance bill?

Some insurers discount a FORTIFIED roof. Each company decides, so ask yours before you decide. We can't promise a discount.

Can you cover my deductible?

No. We don't advertise or promise to pay, waive or absorb a deductible, and Louisiana law doesn't allow it. The deductible is yours to pay.

Roof leaking tonight? Call.

The leak line is answered by a person, day and night. For anything that can wait, ask for a roof inspection and we will set a day.
