The leak line

Leaks, tarps and repairs

Who answers, when, and what it costs at night. This is the part of the job that can't wait.

  • Day and night

    Who answers

In office hours, Gwendolyn. Nights, weekends and holidays, the on-call lead: Nia or Darren, on a weekly rota. The line rings through to whoever is on.

  • 24/7

    Hours

The leak line runs 24/7. The office is open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.

  • Same day, if safe

    Tarp time

The tarp goes on the same day when the roof is safe to climb. If it isn't, we tell you why and when we expect to get there.

  • Told up front

    What nights cost

Nights, weekends and holidays add a trip charge. We say what it is on the phone before the truck leaves. The tarp is priced by roof size on its own line.

While you wait

Five things to do before the crew arrives

  • Stay off the roof

Wet shingles are slick and storm-loosened ones move. Take photos from the ground.

  • Catch the water

Move furniture and set a bucket. Lay a towel under it to stop splashing.

  • Mind the power

If water is near a ceiling fixture or outlet, turn off that circuit at the panel.

  • Take photos

The stain, the ceiling, the roof edge from the yard. Text them to (337) 555-0101.

  • Keep the receipts

Buckets, fans, hotel nights. If you file with your insurer, they will ask.

After the tarp

Then the real repair

Once the roof is dry we measure and photograph what we find, then write the repair with its price. Often it is a pipe boot, a patch of flashing or a few lifted shingles. When the roof is past repair we say that, and show you why.

  • Flashing, pipe boots and vents

  • Lifted or missing shingles

  • Rotted edges and soft decking, priced per sheet

  • Gutters pulled loose by wind

Questions

Leak questions

My roof is leaking right now. What do I do?

Call the leak line at (337) 555-0100, any hour. While you wait, move what you can out of the water's way, set a bucket, and text us a photo from inside or from the ground. Stay off the roof. If a light fixture is wet, turn off that circuit at the panel.

Will you tarp while it's raining?

When it is safe to be on the roof. Lightning, high wind and standing water on slick shingles keep the crew on the ground. If we can't go yet, we tell you why and when we expect to.

Does a tarp cost more at night?

Yes. Nights, weekends and holidays add a trip charge, and we tell you what it is on the phone before the truck leaves. The tarp itself is priced by roof size and written on its own line, never folded into the repair.

What are the signs I need a new roof?

A roof near the end of its life, curling or missing shingles, granules in the gutters, stains on the attic or ceiling, sagging, and flashing that has pulled loose.
